VNCclient Client Setup

Q: How can I use VNCcalendar?
A: You can use it on every device that is capable of running a supported web browser. In addition there is also a dedicated mobile app for Android and iOS available. To access VNCcalendar using the browser web client, just navigate to https:// and login with the credentials provided to you.

Q: Which web-browsers are supported?
A: Current versions of Google-Chrome/Chromium, Firefox-ESR and Firefox Quantum are supported.

Q: Where can I get the mobile application?
A: Android | iOS

Account Management

Q: How do I create a VNCcalendar account?
A: To create a VNCcalendar account follow exactly the same procedure as that of creating a VNCtalk account. Refer to the "Create an account" section, for a step-by-step guide.

Q: Can I change my account name?
A: You can update some basic information in your VNCmail account: Settings > Preferences > Account Preferences. See the "Customize the default email account" section for more information.

Q: Can I change or reset my password?
A: You can change your password for security reasons. Refer to the "Change the password" section, for a step-by-step guide.

Q: How can I keep my VNCcalendar account securŅƒ?
A: To help keep your VNCmail account secure, go to Preferences > Security to set up 2-factor authentification for an extra level of security to your account.

Q: How do I submit a support request?
A: You can submit a support request at any time through VNC Service Desk. Adding a support request is a good option if:

  • You face any issues
  • You want to report a bug
  • You have feature requests

To add a support request:

  1. Open VNCcalendar.
  2. Click the cogwheel icon .
  3. Navigate to Help > VNC service desk.

In your support request, try to provide as much detail as possible about the issue or recommendation.

Calendar Management

Q: Can I share my Calendar with someone?
A: You can share the calendar you created, and you can set different access permissions for each calendar. Refer to the "Share a calendar" section, for more information.

Q: Does the Sharing Calendar feaure allow another user to manage my calendar?
A: You can determine the level of access that the delegate has to your calendars. You can grant a delegate permission to set appointments and send the invitations or accept and decline your invitations on your behalf. By default, when you share a calendar, the delegate can view your Calendars but cannot make changes.

There are 4 delegate permission levels:

  • None: Indicates that the calendar cannot be shared. Select this option if you do not want to share your calendar with the other users.
  • Viewer: Collaborators can View the calendar but cannot make changes.
  • Manager: Collaborators can View, Edit, Add, Remove the calendar.
  • Admin: Collaborators View, Edit, Add, Remove and Share the calendar.

Q: How do I view multiple calendars in VNCcalendar?
A: In the Calendar list in the Navigation pane, you can view a calendar by checking the boxes for the calendars you want to view. In addition you can view multiple calendars at the same time.

  1. At the top right in the calendar view box, click the down arrow and select the view.
  2. Day view shows the calendars side-by-side.
  3. The Work Week, Week, and Month views show appointments on the calendar by the color associated with the calendar.
  4. List view shows each event over a designated period. Each appointment is shown on a vertical line in the Content pane for the selected calendars.

Q: Can I change color to Calendar once I created one?
A: While changing your calendar color will change all of the appointments in your calendar to that color. To change the calendar's color:

  1. Right click on the calendar and select Edit Properties.
  2. Select the desired color from the palette.
  3. On the bottom, click the checkmark .

Q: Can I turn off displaying my free/ busy information?
A: The free/busy feature allows others to see meeting times scheduled on your calendars. The free/busy feature is on by default, but you can turn it off or limit who can see the information.

Q: Can I send my free/ busy information to others?
A: You can email a link of your free/busy status that shows appointments in your personal and shared calendars.

  1. Click the kebab menu next to Calendars.
  2. Click Send Free & Busy Link As and select to send the information as either HTML, ICS, or an ICS Event. The compose email page will open.
  3. Complete the address and subject line. The calendar link is in the text area. Add more information if you want.
  4. Click Send to send the email to the users.

The recipients can click the link to view your schedule. Your calendar updates itself for the recipients when you add new events to your calendars.

Q: Can I move appointments to another calendar?
A: You can move appointments from one calendar to another when necessary. Appointments keep the same date, time and other properties when moved between calendars.

Calendar Settings

Q: How do I change my VNCcalendar settings?
A: By navigating to the Preferences > Main Preferences, you can change timezone, calendar view, appointment visibility, appointment duration, notification settings.

  1. Open VNCcalendar.
  2. In the top right, click the cogwheel icon .
  3. Navigate to Preferences > Main Preferences.
  4. Make your changes.
  5. Click SAVE.

Q: Can I change my event privacy settings?
A: Every event on VNCcalendar can be set to either Public or Private. You'll choose how you want your event listed when creating your event, but you can also change this setting any time.

Q: Can I turn on notifications for upcoming events?
A: To help remind you about upcoming events, you can be notified by a beep, flash the browser title, or popup nitification. You can change your notification settings anytime.

Note:

Notifications cannot be set on a per-entry basis. This means that whatever settings are in your Preferences > Notifications will be used for all your notifications, and not only for this particular calendar appointment.

Q: Can I change my time zone and create events with certain time zones?
A: You can change your time zone of entire VNCcalendar. This helps if you'll be traveling when the event happens.

Q: Where can I set my working hours and location?
A: You can use working hours and availability if your account is through your work. You can also allow others know where you work. You can do this through Preferences > Work Week and Hours.

Q: What languages are supported?
A: Currently only English and German are supported.

Q: Where can I change my VNCcalendar language settings?
A: Navigate to Settings > General Settings. Select a required language from the Language drop-down menu. On the bottom, click the checkmark .

Q: Where can I change my VNCcalendar background?
A: Navigate to Settings > General Settings. Select a required theme from the Theme drop-down menu. On the bottom, click the checkmark .

Appointment creating

Q: Can I add someone to my event, even if they don't have VNCcalendar?
A: You can add anyone with an email address to your event, even if they don't have VNCcalendar.

Q: Can I propose a new time?
A: When you receive a meeting invitation for a time that conflicts with another appointment on your calendar, you can propose a new meeting time from your email inbox.

  1. Open the email that contains a meeting request.
  2. Select Propose a new time. The meeting organizer will receive an email with the suggested time.

Q: Can I add attachments to my events?
A: You can add files and documents to your event. Refer to the "Create an appointment section, for a step-by-step guide.

Q: Can I create recurring appointments?
A: You can set recurrence when creating a new appointment, or add recurrence to an existing one later. Refer to the "Create an appointment section, for a step-by-step guide.
