VNClagoon Desktop Client Installation

For various VNClagoon applications, in addition to the webclient, we also provide a stand-alone desktop client, currently for:

  • VNCcontacts
  • VNCcalendar
  • VNCmail
  • VNCtalk
  • VNCtask

The download and installation of these desktop clients, follows exactly the same procedure for all VNCproducts.

Following up, we therefore show you the desktop client installation procedure on the example of the VNCtalk desktop client, applicable for the other desktop clients in the same way.

Install VNCtalk Desktop Client

Linux

  1. Go to Downloads page and scroll down till VNCtalk.
  2. Click Linux icon:

  3. Download VNCtalk.linux.AppImage. After you download the extension, you should make it executable. For this run cd path_to_VNCtalk.linux.AppImage and hmod +x VNCtalk.linux.AppImage commands.

  4. Start VNCtalk Desktop Client from your file manager or from the terminal by executing ./VNCtalk.linux.AppImage command.

Linux: Install from repository

For a better system integration, on Debian based systems, we recommend to install the desktop clients from our repository.

  • open a shell and add the repository via:
curl http://basepackages.vnc.biz/basepackages.key | sudo apt-key add -
echo "deb http://basepackages.vnc.biz/repo trusty free" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/basepackages.list
sudo apt-get update
  • now install the desired desktop client:
    • VNCmail via: sudo apt-get install vncmail-desktop
    • VNCtalk via: sudo apt-get install vnctalk-desktop

Windows

  1. Go to Downloads page and scroll down till VNCtalk.
  2. Click Windows icon:

  3. Download VNCtalk.exe. After you download the file, open it from your download folder, by double clicking on the executable file, which may open a warning popup from Windows Defender:

  4. Click More info.

  5. Then click Run away:

    You should see that the installation process is in progress:

    After the installation is over, VNCtalk Desktop Client will start automatically.

MacOS

  1. Go to Downloads page and scroll down till VNCtalk.
  2. Click MacOS icon:

  3. Download the DMG file. After you download the file, drag VNCtalk and drop it to Applications folder:

    You should see that the installation process is in progress:

    After the installation is over, VNCtalk Desktop Client will be available in Applications folder.

  4. Double click VNCtalk Desktop Client. You should see the following notification:

  5. Click Open.

    If you are using macOS Catalina (10.15) - you should enable "Screen Recording Permission". For this follow the steps below:

  6. Set up Dropshare to use it for capturing screen shorts and screen recordings. Use "How to install the Dropshare for Mac CLI" instruction for it.

  7. Enable Screen Recording Permission, using "Enabling Screen Recording Permission on macOS Catalina (10.15)" instruction.
