Broadcasts

VNCtalk Broadcast is a fast way to inform individual participants or defined groups and recipient lists about events of any kind. You can just write a broadcast message and everyone in the selected group will be informed immediately.

If someone wants to answer your broadcast or has a question, a 1:1 chat with the creator of the broadcast will automatically be created.

Create a broadcast

It is possible to create a broadcast with a minimum of 2 users. Also, you can add group chat participants to a broadcast. When a participant joins a broadcast, they can read and react to messages that are sent by an admin. If an admin sends the first message, they will receive a notification.

  1. Click the plus icon and then New broadcast.
  2. Enter a broadcast name.
  3. Search for required participants using the search field or select a required group chat.
  4. Click the start broadcast button .

You can check the created broadcast in the Broadcast tab of the left sidebar.

Access broadcast info

You can view basic info about a broadcast such as privacy settings, broadcast participants, a collection of all the files sent in the chat, and more.

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.
  2. Open a broadcast.
  3. In the broadcast header, click the down arrow .
  4. Select Chat Info from the dropdown menu.

The information available in broadcasts:

  • Info. See and change broadcast message storage settings.
  • Files. A collection of all the images, videos, and docs.
  • Participants. See who’s in a broadcast. A click on the kebab icon in the participant list allows viewing participant profile information, starting a voice/ video call, or sending a private message.

Pin a broadcast

The pin broadcast feature allows you to pin specific broadcasts to the top of your broadcast list so you can quickly find them. You can select up to 5 broadcasts to pin at once.

There are 2 ways to pin a broadcast.

Way 1. From the broadcast list.

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.
  2. Hover the pointer over the broadcast you want to pin and click the kebab menu icon that appears in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Pin chat from the dropdown menu.
  4. To unpin a broadcasts, select Unpin chat from the dropdown menu.

Way 2. Clicking the down arrow next to the broadcast name.

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.
  2. Open a broadcast.
  3. In the broadcast header, click the down arrow .
  4. Select Pin chat from the dropdown menu.

Enable/ disable E2E encryption in a broadcast

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.
  2. Open a broadcast.
  3. Click the kebab menu icon beneath the box where you type your message and then select Enable E2E encryption.
  4. To disable E2E encryption, click the kebab menu icon again and then select Disable E2E encryption.

Change broadcast message storage settings

You can choose how long broadcast messages are stored. If you enable the "Clear chat history" feature, all messages in chat after the designated time frame will be deleted.

To change settings to specify how long chat messages are stored, do the following:

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.
  2. Open a broadcast.
  3. In the broadcast header, click the down arrow .
  4. Select Chat Info from the dropdown menu.
  5. Under the Privacy section, toggle on Clear chat history.
  6. Select the period to store messages.

Add a broadcast to the "Favorite" list

You can mark broadcasts as favorites to make them easy to find.

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.
  2. Hover the pointer over the broadcast you want to pin and click the kebab menu icon that appears in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Add to favorites from the dropdown menu.
  4. To remove a broadcast from the "Favorites" list, hover the pointer over a chat, and click the kebab menu icon and then Remove from Favorites.

Delete a broadcast

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.
  2. Hover the pointer over the broadcast you want to delete and click the kebab menu icon that appears in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Remove from Recent from the dropdown menu.

Search within a broadcast

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.
  2. Open a broadcast.
  3. In the broadcast header, click Search.
  4. Enter a search term in the field and press Enter.
  5. To search for a specific word across starred messages, click the star icon .
  6. To set the period for the search, click the calendar icon , select a required date and click APPLY.
