With the email feature in VNCcommander, you can compose an email, reply to an email, send an email to someone not on the To or CC lines, mark/ unmark email as favorite, etc.

Compose an email

You can compose an email directly in VNCcommander.

  1. Click Create new.
  2. Select Email to open the compose window.
  3. Enter the email address in the To field.
  4. Enter the title of the email in the Subject field.
  5. Enter your email.
  6. When you are finished, click Compose.

    • If you want to continue in VNCmail, click Open in VNCmail.

Add CC and BCC addresses

The abbreviations CC: and BCC: stand for carbon copy and blind carbon copy, respectively.

  • CC: allows you to send a copy of an email to someone interested but is not the primary recipient. All CC'ed recipients see the entire mailing list when they read the email.
  • BCC: allows you to send a copy of an email to someone without specifying their address in the copies of the email sent to other recipients.

To add CC or BCC* addresses, do the following:

  1. Click Create new.
  2. Select Email to open the compose window.
  3. In the To address box, type your primary recipient’s email address. You can separate multiple addresses by pressing the Enter key.
  4. Click CC and enter the email address of recipients who’ll receive a copy of the email in the CC field.
  5. Click BCC and enter the recipient you’d like hidden in the BCC address field.

    • The main recipient of your email can’t see who else has been added. However, each BCC recipient will know that they’ve been BCC’ed to this email.
  6. Compose your email as you normally would.

Add attachments to an email

When you compose an email, you can attach files from your computer, email, and contacts in your address books.

There are 2 ways to add attachments to your email.

Way 1. Using the "Attach" dropdown menu.

  1. Compose the email as described in the "Compose an email" section.
  2. Click the Attach dropdown menu and select one of the following options:

    • My Computer and Attach Inline to attach something from your computer.
    • Email if you want to attach an email.
    • Contacts if you want to attach a contact.

Way 2. Using the drag and drop option.

You can add attachments from your computer with drag and drop.

  1. Select one or more files and hold down the cursor on the file(s) to be attached.
  2. Drag the file(s) to the email header area and release the cursor.

The file names will be displayed in the header. To remove an attachment, click the cross icon next to the attachment before you send the email.

Reply to an email

You can reply to VNCmail email directly in VNCcommander.

There are 2 ways to reply to an email.

Way 1. Without opening the email.

1. Click VNCmail in the left sidebar. 1. Click VNCmail in the left sidebar.
2. Hold the pointer over the email you want to reply to and select one of the following options:
- Click Reply to reply to only the email sender.
- Click Reply all to reply to all the participants.

- Click Reply under an email.
- Click the kebab menu icon and then select Reply all from the dropdown menu.
3. Enter the email content. 3. Enter the email content.
4. Click Send. 4. Click Send.

Way 2. Opening the email.

  1. Click VNCmail in the left sidebar.
  2. Click an email you want to reply to and click:

    • Click Reply to reply to only the email sender.
    • Click Reply all to reply to all the participants.
  3. Enter the email content.

  4. Click Send.

The Reply option allows you to send the new email to the original sender. Attachments are not included.

The Reply all option allows you to send the new email to the original sender and all other recipients on the To and CC lines. Attachments are not included.

Forward an email

You can forward emails directly in VNCcommander.

There are 2 ways to forward the email to new recipients.

Way 1. Without opening the email.

2. Hold the pointer over the email you want to forward and select the forward icon . 2. Click the kebab menu icon and then select the Forward menu option that opens.
3. Click To, Cc, or BCC to add a recipient, and then type the recipient’s name or email address in the box. 3. Click To, Cc, or BCC to add a recipient, and then type the recipient’s name or email address in the box
4. Check the subject of the email. The subject line for a Forward is automatically set to show “Fwd:” in front of the original email subject. You can change this by simply typing in the subject box or you can leave it as is. 4. Check the subject of the email. Way 2. Opening the email.

  1. Click VNCmail in the left sidebar.
  2. Click an email you want to forward and click Forward.
  3. Enter a required email address to the field
  4. Click Send.

Mark an email as favorite

You can mark emails as favorites to make them easy to find. Favorite emails save in the Starred folder.

When you mark an item as a favorite, it appears as a favorite in your account only. It doesn't appear as a favorite for anyone else.

  1. Click VNCmail in the left sidebar.
  2. Click the star icon and it will turn yellow, confirming that you've marked the email as favorite.
  3. To unmark an email as a favorite, click the star icon again.

Mark an email as read/ unread

If you want to remember to read an email later, you can mark it as unread. You can also mark email as read without opening them.

  1. Click VNCmail in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Mark as read or Mark as unread. You should see that the email status has changed to Read/ Unread.
