Stream

VNCsocial is currently an open beta. Beta features can change during the beta period. You may experience bugs or performance issues during this time.

VNCsocial is a space where users within the organization can create their own posts and share them with followers. All posts are visible on Stream and are limited to 320 characters.

Stream is a place where you can share and connect with the people things you care about. When you go to Social or refresh your Stream, the social posts most recent will appear towards the top of your stream.

  • All posts from accounts you follow will appear in your Stream.
  • Anyone within your organization can follow you.
  • Date the post was shared determines the order of posts in your Stream.
  • You can see when a photo, video, or text message was posted by looking at the top of the post, next to the profile name.

Create a post

A post may contain photos, videos, links, emojis, and text.

There are 2 ways to create a post.

Way 1. Using the "Write new post" option.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Stream.
  3. Click Write new post at the top of the Stream page.
  4. In the New Post box that opens, write your post (up to 320 characters). You can include up to 4 photos, a link, or a video.
  5. Click Send.

You should see the created post on the Stream page.

Way 2. Using the feather button.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the lower right corner, click the feather button .
  3. The further steps are the same as for the first way of creating a post.

Schedule a post

You can schedule a social post to go live on a specific date. This feature is great for posts that need to be published on weekends, evenings, or other busy times when you don't have time to post manually.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Stream.
  3. Click Write new post at the top of the Stream page.
  4. In the New Post box that opens, write your post (up to 320 characters). You can include up to 4 photos or a video.
  5. Click Schedule at the bottom.
  6. Make your schedule selections:

    • Publish Date - set a date when the post is published.
    • Expiry Date - set a date when the post is archived.
  7. Click Send.

Your post won't be discoverable on Stream until the date you scheduled.

Manage a scheduled post

You cannot edit the post you've already shared.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Stream.
  3. Click the down arrow next to Unpublished. You will now see all posts that are currently scheduled.
  4. Click Publish now to publish a post immediately.
  5. Click Edit to edit your post and scheduling details.
  6. Click Delete to delete a scheduled post. You can also click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post and then select Delete post.
  7. Click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post and then select one of the options:

    • Add to bookmarks to add a scheduled post to bookmarks.
    • Copy link to copy link** of a scheduled post. The URL should now be copied to your clipboard.
    • Send to to share a scheduled post privately. In the Send to** box that opens, select or search for a chat you want to send the post to and click it.

Add a post to bookmarks

Bookmarks let you save a post (or several) you love in one place for easy, quick access at any time.

  1. Click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post you want to add to bookmarks.
  2. Select Add to bookmarks.

To view your saved post, navigate to Social > Bookmarks.

Copy a post link

Every post has its own URL that you can share with other users.

  1. Click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post you want to copy.
  2. Select Copy link.
  3. It will copy the selected post to the clipboard. Now you can manually paste the copied link to send it.

Share a post

You have the option to share posts via VNCtalk chat with your contacts.

  1. Click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post you want to send to.
  2. Select Send to.
  3. Select or search for a chat you want to send the post and click it.
  4. You have the option to add a comment to your message.
  5. Click Send.

Delete a post

You can delete any of your own posts at any time. If you delete a post, your updated content will be reflected on the Stream page.

If you repost a post and later want to remove it from your profile, you can undo your repost.

  1. Click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post you want to delete.
  2. Select Delete post.

Reply to a post

A reply is a response to another post and is one of the easiest ways to join in a conversation. You can view the posts you've replied to from your profile page by clicking the Replies tab.

  1. Click the reply icon at the bottom of the post you want to reply to.
  2. A Reply box will pop up, where you will see the name of the person you are directly replying to. Type in your message.
  3. Click Send.

To schedule your reply to be sent at a later date:

  1. Click Schedule at the bottom.
  2. Make your schedule selections:

    • Publish Date - set a date when the post is published.
    • Expiry Date - set a date when the post is archived.
  3. Click Send.

Repost a post

Reposts are posts you share publicly with your followers. They’ll see the post in their stream with the repost icon and your name.

  1. Click the repost icon at the bottom of the post you want to repost.
  2. The post will then be shared with all of your followers as a Repost.

Like a post

Likes are represented by a heart and are used to show appreciation for a post. You can view the posts you've liked from your profile page by clicking the Likes tab.

  1. Click the heart icon and it will turn red, confirming that you've liked the post.
  2. To undo a like, click the heart icon again.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions show your followers and people who you're following. It's also where you can find people within your organization to discover all the ideas they create and publish.

View your followers

When someone follows you, it means they may receive updates about you in their Stream.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Subscriptions.
  3. Click the Followers tab to view a list of your followers.

View your following list

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Subscriptions.
  3. Click the Following tab to view a list of your following.

Find and follow people

There are 3 ways to find and follow people.

Way 1. Entering a person's name in the search bar.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Subscriptions.
  3. Enter a person’s name in the search bar. The list of person's names will appear.
  4. Click the Follow button next to the person's name you want to follow.

Way 2. Hovering the mouse pointer over the person's name.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Subscriptions.
  3. Enter a person’s name in the search bar. The list of person's names will appear.
  4. Hover the mouse pointer over the one.
  5. In the Profile box that appears, click Follow.

Way 3. From the profile's page.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Subscriptions.
  3. Enter a person’s name in the search bar. The list of person's names will appear.
  4. Hover the mouse pointer over the one.
  5. In the Profile box that appears, click the profile picture.
  6. Click the Follow button on the right of their profile description.

Profile

Profile shows your bio, posts, and reposts. It's also where you'll be able to select a profile photo, a header photo, also known as a banner, and view your responses to another person's posts and posts you've recently liked.

Customize a profile

In the bio, you can include text, emojis, and links. You can also make the text bold, italic, or underline.

It's easy to customize your profile by adding a name, role, company, email, country, language, and bio.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Profile.
  3. In the upper right corner, click the notebook icon .
  4. In the right sidebar that appears, you can edit your:

    • First name
    • Last name
    • Role
    • Company
    • Email
    • Country
    • Language
    • Bio

    Hover the mouse pointer over any of these fields and click a pencil icon and make your changes.

  5. Click Save.

Change a profile photo

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Profile.
  3. Click a pencil icon on the profile image.
  4. Click Upload.
  5. Select an image from your device.
  6. Click Apply after uploading the photo.

Change a header photo

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Profile.
  3. In the upper right corner of the header photo, click the pencil icon .
  4. Select an image from your device.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Profile.
  3. Click the kebab menu icon next to the profile name.
  4. Click Send to.
  5. Search for or select the individual or group chat you want to send to.
  6. You have the option to add the message.
  7. Click Send.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks will store all posts you want to save for later. Bookmarks can be used in various ways:

  • Save posts you want to remember to read.
  • Store posts you want to share with someone later.
  • Keep some of your favorite posts for yourself (your Bookmarks are visible only to you).

Remove a post from bookmarks

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Bookmarks.
  3. Click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post you want to remove from bookmarks.
  4. Select Remove from bookmarks.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Bookmarks.
  3. Click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post you want to copy.
  4. Select Copy link.
  5. It will copy the selected bookmark to the clipboard. Now you can manually paste the copied link to send it.

Share a bookmark

You can share a bookmark privately with other users.

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Bookmarks.
  3. Click the kebab menu icon in the upper right corner of the post you want to share.
  4. Select Send to.
  5. Select or search for a chat you want to send the post and click it.
  6. You have the option to add a comment to your message.
  7. Click Send.

Analytics

Analytics displays the number of posts and profile views, followers, and reactions.

View account insights

You can use insights to learn more about your account’s followers and performance. For example:

  • See how people engage with your posts during a specific period.
  • Compare your activity and followers, and see how they trend over time.
  • Get a detailed view of the reactions your posts receive.

To view account insights:

  1. Open Social.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Analytics.
  3. The following insights are available in Social:

    • Post views: This section showcases the number of post views within the selected period.
    • Profile views: This section showcases the number of profile views within the selected period.
    • Followers: These insights showcase how many followers you've gained or lost during the selected period.
    • Reactions: This section displays many times people engage with your posts during the selected period.
  4. Click the timeframe dropdown to select one of the timeframes.

  5. Click Apply.
