VNCsocial is currently an open beta. Beta features can change during the beta period. You may experience bugs or performance issues during this time.

VNCsocial is a space where users within the organization can create their own posts and share them with followers. All posts are visible on Social channel and limited to 320 characters.

  • Stream is a place where you can share and connect with the people things you care about. When you go to Social or refresh your stream, the social posts most recent will appear towards the top of your stream.

    • All posts from accounts you follow on Social channel will appear in your stream.
    • Anyone within organization can follow your social posts.
    • Date the post was shared determines the order of posts in your stream.
    • You can see when a photo, video, or text message was posted by looking at the top of the post, next to the profile name.
  • Profile shows your bio, posts, and reposts. It's also where you'll be able to select a profile photo, a header photo, also known as a banner, and view your responses to another person's posts and posts you've recently liked.

  • Subscriptions shows your followers and people who you're following. It's also where you can find people within your organization to discover all the ideas they create and publish.
  • Bookmarks will store all posts you want to save for later. Bookmarks can be used in various ways:

    • Save posts you want to remember to read.
    • Store posts you want to share with someone later.
    • Keep some of your favorite posts for yourself (your Bookmarks are visible only for you).
  • Analytics displays the number of post and profile views, followers, and reactions.

Create a post

A post may contain photos, videos, links, emojis, and text.

  1. Click Social:

  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Stream.

  3. Click Write new post at the top of the Stream page.
  4. In the New Post box that opens, write your post (up to 320 characters).
  5. You can include up to 4 photos or a video in your post.
  6. Click Send. You should see the created post on the Stream page.

To schedule your post to be sent at a later date, click Schedule at the bottom of the New Post box and make your schedule selections:

  • Publish Date - set a date when the post is published.
  • Expiry Date - set a date when the post is archived.

Once done, click Schedule.

Edit a post

You can edit the post you've already shared:

  1. Visit your Profile page.

  2. Click a Posts tab and then locate the post you want to edit.

  3. Click the kebab menu icon .

  4. From the pop-up menu, select Edit Post.

  5. Edit, schedule, or add a photo/video to your post, then click Send or Schedule if the post is scheduled.

Delete a post

You can delete any of your own post at any time. If you delete a post, your updated content will be reflected on the Stream page.

If you repost a post and later want to remove it from your profile, you can undo your repost.

  1. Visit your Profile page.

  2. Click a Posts tab and locate the post you want to delete.

  3. Click the kebab menu icon .

  4. From the pop-up menu, select Delete post.

Copy a post link

Every post has its own URL that you can share with other users.

  1. Navigate to the post you’d like the URL of.

  2. Click the kebab menu icon .

  3. From the pop-up menu, select Copy link. The URL should now be copied to your clipboard.

Add a post to bookmarks

Bookmarks lets you save a post (or several) you love on one place for easy, quick access at any time.

  1. From a post, click the kebab menu icon and select Add to bookmarks.

  2. To view your saved post, visit Social > Bookmarks.

  3. To remove a saved Bookmark, click the kebab icon from the post within your Bookmarks and select Delete post from Bookmarks.

Schedule a post

You can schedule a social post to go live at a specific date. This feature is great for posts that need to be published on weekends, evenings, or other busy times when you don't have time to post manually.

  1. Click Social:

  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Stream.

  3. Click Write new post at the top of the Stream page.
  4. In the New Post box that opens, write your post (up to 320 characters).
  5. You can include up to 5 photos or a video in your post.
  6. Click Schedule at the bottom of the New Post box.
  7. Make your schedule selections:

    • Publish Date - set a date when the post is published.
    • Expiry Date - set a date when the post is archived.
  8. Once done, click Schedule.

Your post won't be discoverable on Stream until the date you scheduled.

Manage scheduled posts

  1. Open Social:

  2. On the left sidebar, select Stream. Here you can view scheduled and all social posts as well as create new ones.

  3. To view your scheduled posts, click Unpublished:

    You will now see all posts that are currently scheduled. All management, including editing and deleting of scheduled posts, can be done here.

  4. To edit a scheduled post, click Edit:

    Here you can edit your post and scheduling details. Click the Schedule button to save changes.

  5. To delete a scheduled post, click Delete:

    Another way is to click the kebab menu icon at the top right corner of the post and then select Delete post from the drop-down menu.

  6. To add a scheduled post to bookmarks, click the kebab menu icon at the top right corner of the post and then select Add to bookmarks from the drop-down menu.

  7. To copy link of a scheduled post, click the kebab menu icon at the top right corner of the post and then select Copy link from the drop-down menu. The URL should now be copied to your clipboard.

  8. To share a scheduled post privately, click the kebab menu icon at the top right corner of the post and then select Send to from the drop-down menu. From the window that opens, Enter the name of the person you want to send the message to or choose from the suggested account list. You have the option to add a comment to your message. Click Send.

Send a post

Sharing a post privately is easy. You have the option to share via VNCtalk chat with your contacts.

  1. Click the kebab menu icon from a post on your Stream.

  2. Select Send to....

  3. From the window that opens, Enter a name of the person you want to send the message to or choose from the suggested account list.

  4. You have the option to add a comment to your message.

  5. Click Send.

Reply to a post

A reply is a response to another post, and is one of the easiest ways to join in a conversation. You can view the posts you've replied to from your profile page by clicking the Replies tab.

  1. Find the post you want to reply to.
  2. Click the Reply button.
  3. A Reply window will pop up, where you will see the name of the person you are directly replying to.
  4. Type in your message.
  5. Click Send.

To schedule your reply to be sent at a later date, click Schedule at the bottom of the New Post box and make your schedule selections:

  • Publish Date - set a date when the post is published.
  • Expiry Date - set a date when the post is archived.

Once done, click Schedule.

Repost a post

Reposts are posts you share publicly with your followers. They’ll see the post in their stream with the repost icon and your name.

  1. Locate the post you'd like to share.

  2. Click the Repost button

The post will then be shared with all of your followers as a Repost.

Like a post

Likes are represented by a heart and are used to show appreciation for a post. You can view the posts you've liked from your profile page by clicking the Likes tab.

  1. Click the like button and it will turn red, confirming that you've liked the post.
  2. To undo a like: Click the like button again.

Customize a profile

It's easy to customize your profile by adding a name, role, company, email, country, languages, and bio.

  1. Open Social:

  2. Click the notebook icon at the top right.

  3. In the right sidebar that appears, you can edit your:

    • First name
    • Last name
    • Role
    • Company
    • Email
    • Country
    • Language
    • Bio
  4. Hover the mouse pointer over any of these field.

  5. Click a pencil icon and make your changes.
  6. Click Save.

In the bio, you can include text, emojis, and links. You can also make the text bold, italic, or underline.

Change a profile photo

  1. From your Profile page, click a pencil icon next to the profile image.
  2. In the Profile box that opens, click a camera icon and then click Select An Image.
  3. Click Use after uploading the photo.

Change a header photo

  1. From your Profile page, click at the top right.

  2. Select an image from your device.

Change a profile name

Your profile name is unique to your account, and is visible when posting a social post. People can also search for you by your profile name.

  1. Click the notebook icon at the top right.
  2. In the right sidebar that appears, hover the mouse pointer over the First Name and Last Name fields.
  3. Click a pencil icon .
  4. Update the full name currently listed in the First Name and Last Name fields.
  5. Click Save.

View your followers

  1. Click Social:

  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Subscriptions.

  3. Click the Followers tab near the top of the screen to view a list of your followers.

View who you're following

  1. Click Social:

  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Subscriptions.

  3. Click the Following tab near the top of the screen to view a list of your following.

Find and follow people

  1. Click Social:

  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Subscriptions.

  3. Enter a person’s name in the search bar. The list of person's names will appear.
  4. Click the Follow button next to the person's name you want to follow or hover the mouse pointer over the one.
  5. In the Profile box that appears click Follow:

    Alternatively, you can click a profile picture to open the profile and then click Follow on the right of their profile description.

Manage your bookmarks

You can view, share a bookmark privately with other users, and delete it.

  1. In the left sidebar menu, click Bookmarks.
  2. Locate a post you want to view/share/copy URL/delete and click the kebab menu icon .
  3. Select the action you want to perform.

View account insights

You can use Social insights to learn more about your account’s followers and performance. For example:

  • See how people engage with your posts during a specific period.
  • Compare your Social activity and followers, and see how they trend over time.
  • Get a detailed view of the reactions your posts receive.

To view account insights:

  1. Click the Social tab:

  2. On the left sidebar, select Analytics:

  3. The following insights are available in Social:

    • Post views: This section showcases the number of post views within the selected period.
    • Profile views: This section showcases the number of profile views within the selected period.
    • Followers: These insights showcase how many followers you've gained or lost during the selected period.
    • Reactions: This section displays many times people engage with your posts during the selected period.

On Social, you can view your account insights for any time period within the last 90 days.

To select a preset timeframe:

  1. On the Analytics page, click the timeframe dropdown at the top left corner of your page:

  2. Select one of the preset timeframes. You can choose from Today, Yesterday, This week, Last 30 Days, This month, Last month, or Last 90 days.

  3. Click Apply.

You’ll now be able to see account metrics for your selected preset timeframe.
