VNCsocial

VNCsocial is currently an open beta. Beta features can change during the beta period. You may experience bugs or performance issues during this time.

VNCsocial is a space where users within the organization can create their own posts and share them with followers. All posts are visible on Social tab and limited to 320 characters.

  • Stream is a place where you can share and connect with the people things you care about. When you go to Social or refresh your stream, the social posts most recent will appear towards the top of your stream.

    • Your Stream displays posts from accounts you follow on Social. You can reply, repost, or like a post from within Stream.
    • You can toggle between viewing All posts or Media in your Stream.
    • Tapping anywhere on a post in your Stream will take you to the post detail page, so you can see photos, videos, and other information related to that post.
  • Bookmarks will store all posts you want to save for later. Bookmarks can be used in various ways:

    • Save posts you want to remember to read.
    • Store posts you want to share with someone later.
    • Keep some of your favorite posts for yourself (your Bookmarks are visible only for you).
  • Profile shows your bio, posts, and reposts. It's also where you'll be able to select a profile photo, a header photo, also known as a banner, and view your responses to another person's posts and posts you've recently liked.

  • Subscriptions shows your followers and people who you're following. It's also where you can find people within your organization to discover all the ideas they create and publish.

  • Analytics displays the number of post and profile views, followers, and reactions.

Create a post

A post may contain photos, videos, links, smartlinks, emojis, and text.

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. Tap at the bottom right.

  3. In the New post screen, type your post (up to 320 characters).
  4. You can include up to 4 photos or a video in your post.
  5. Tap the checkmark icon at the top right to publish your social post.

To schedule your post to be sent at a later date, tap the calendar at the bottom of the New Post screen. Check the Schedule a Post box and then make your schedule selections:

  • Publish Date - set a date and time when the post is published.
  • Expiry Date - set a date when the post is archived.

Once done, tap the checkmark at the top right.

Delete a post

You can delete any of your own post from Social at any time. If you delete a post, your updated content will be reflected on the Social screen.

If you repost a post and later want to remove it from your profile, you can undo your repost.

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. Locate the post you want to delete.

  3. Touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select Delete post.
  4. When prompted, tap Yes to confirm that you want to delete the post.

Copy a post link

Every post has its own URL that you can share with other users.

  1. Navigate to the post you’d like the URL of.
  2. Touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select Copy link.
  3. The URL should now be copied to your clipboard.

Add a post to bookmarks

Bookmarks lets you save a post (or several) you love on one place for easy, quick access at any time.

  1. Touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select BOOKMARK.
  2. To view your saved post, visit Social > Bookmarks.
  3. To remove a saved Bookmark, touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select Remove from Bookmarks.

Schedule a post

You can schedule a post to go live at a specific date. This feature is great for posts that need to be published on weekends, evenings, or other busy times when you don't have time to post manually.

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. Tap at the bottom right.

  3. In the New post screen, type your post (up to 320 characters).
  4. You can include up to 4 photos or a video in your post.
  5. Tap the calendar at the bottom of the New Post screen.
  6. Check the Schedule a Post box and then make your schedule selections:

    • Publish Date - set a date and time when the post is published.
    • Expiry Date - set a date when the post is archived.
  7. Once done, tap Schedule.

Your post won't be discoverable on Stream until the date you scheduled.

Manage scheduled posts

  1. Open Social :

  2. On the top navigation bar, select Stream. Here you can view scheduled and all social posts as well as create new ones.

  3. To view your scheduled posts, tap Unpublished:

    You will now see all posts that are currently scheduled. All management, including editing and deleting of scheduled posts, can be done here.

  4. To edit a scheduled post, tap Edit:

    Here you can edit your post and scheduling details. Tap the checkmark at the top right to save changes.

  5. To delete a scheduled post, tap Delete:

    Other way is to touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select Delete post. When prompted, tap DELETE to confirm that you want to delete the post.

  6. To add a scheduled post to bookmarks, touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select Add to bookmarks.

  7. To copy link of a scheduled post, touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select Copy link. The URL should now be copied to your clipboard.

  8. To share a scheduled post privately, touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select Send to. The Send to screen will open, enter a name of the user you want to send the message to or choose from the suggested profile list. You have the option to add a comment to your message. Tap Send.

Send a post

Sharing a post privately is easy. You have the option to share via VNCtalk chat with your contacts.

  1. Locate the post you'd like to share.
  2. Touch and hold post to open actions menu. Then select Send to....
  3. The Send to screen will open, enter a name of the user you want to send the message to or choose from the suggested profile list.
  4. You have the option to add a comment to your message.
  5. Tap Send.

Reply to a post

A reply is a response to another post, and is one of the easiest ways to join in a conversation.

  1. Find the post you want to reply to.
  2. Tap the reply icon .
  3. A New comment reply screen will open, type in your message.
  4. Tap the checkmark at the top right to post it.

Repost a post

Reposts are posts you share publicly with your followers. They’ll see the post in their stream with the repost icon and your name.

  1. Locate the post you'd like to share.
  2. Tap the Repost button.

The post will then be shared with all of your followers as a Repost.

Like a post

Likes are represented by a heart and are used to show appreciation for a post.

  1. Tap the like icon and it will turn red, confirming that you've liked the post.
  2. To undo a like: Tap the like icon again.

Change a profile photo

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. From the top navigation bar, select Profile:

  3. Tap a pencil icon next to the profile image.

  4. On the Profile screen that opens, tap a camera icon and then Select An Image.
  5. Tap Use after uploading the photo.

Change a header photo

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. From the top navigation bar, select Profile:

  3. Tap at the top right.

  4. Take photo or select an image from your phone.

Change a profile name

Your profile name is unique to your account, and is visible when posting a social post. People can also search for you by your profile name.

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. From the top navigation bar, select Profile:

  3. Tap a pencil icon next to the profile image.

  4. Tap at the bottom right.
  5. Update the full name currently listed in the First Name and Last Name fields.

    • You can add emoji by tapping Emoji .
  6. When you're finished, tap checkmark at the bottom.

View your followers

Followers are users who can see your posts. If someone follows you:

  • They'll show up in your followers list
  • They'll see your posts in their Stream

To view your followers:

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. From the top navigation bar, select Subscriptions:

  3. Tap Followers to view how many followers you have and who they are:

From that screen, you can follow someone who follows you by tapping the Follow Back button.

View who you're following

Following someone means:

  • You are subscribing to their posts as a follower
  • Their updates will appear in your Stream

To view who you're following:

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. From the top navigation bar, select Subscriptions:

  3. Tap Followings to view view who you've followed:

From that screen you can unfollow accounts if you don't want to follow them anymore. Tap the Unfollow button next to any account name, it will change to Follow.

Find and follow people

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. From the top navigation bar, select Subscriptions:

  3. Enter a person’s name in the search bar. The list of accounts will appear.

  4. Tap the Follow button next to the account you want to follow.

Manage your bookmarks

You can view, share a bookmark privately with other users, and remove it from bookmarks.

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. From the top navigation bar, select Bookmarks:

  3. Locate a post you want to view/copy URL/send to another person/remove from bookmarks.

  4. Touch and hold post to open actions menu.
  5. Select the action you want to perform.

View account insights

You can use Social insights to learn more about your account’s followers and performance. For example:

  • See how people engage with your posts during a specific period.
  • Compare your Social activity and followers, and see how they trend over time.
  • Get a detailed view of the reactions your posts receive.

To view account insights:

  1. Tap the Social tab:

  2. From the top navigation bar, select Analytics:

  3. The following insights are available in Social:

    • Post views: This section showcases the number of post views within the selected period.
    • Profile views: This section showcases the number of profile views within the selected period.
    • Followers: These insights showcase how many followers you've gained or lost during the selected period.
    • Reactions: This section displays many times people engage with your posts during the selected period.

On Social, you can view your account insights for any time period within the last 90 days.

To select a preset timeframe:

  1. On the Analytics screen, tap the timeframe dropdown at the top left corner of your screen:

  2. Select one of the preset timeframes. You can choose from Today, Yesterday, This week, Last 30 Days, This month, Last month, or Last 90 days.

  3. Tap Apply.

You’ll now be able to see account metrics for your selected preset timeframe.
