Getting started

Install VNCtalk App

For Android OS

Search for VNCtalk FREE VERSION: real-time communication in the Play Store and install the application.

For iOS

Search for VNCtalk FREE VERSION: real-time communication in the APP Store and install the application.

After you have installed VNCtalk - allow the application:

  • to take pictures, record video;

  • to access photos, media and files on your device;

  • to record audio.

Create an account

Before creating an account, ensure that you are using the proper URL. For this, tap "Change server URL" on the login page, enter the appropriate URL, and tap "Change".

  1. Tap CREATE NEW ACCOUNT:

  1. Fill in the fields. The fields with the asterisk are required. Username is generated automatically after you have entered your first and second names.
  2. Tap REGISTER. You should see:
  3. Confirm your registration. Check the email, which you have specified while registering.
  4. Activate your account - tap the confirmation link.
  5. Open the application and tap Sign in. Now you can login with the credentials you have already specified while registering.

Change the profile photo

  1. Tap the hamburger menu

  2. Tap the profile avatar:

    Or you can also tap the profile icon:

  3. Tap the camera icon:

  4. Tap Select An Image and select required photo/image.

  5. Tap Use at the bottom.

Edit the profile information

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap the profile avatar:

    Or you can also tap the profile icon:

  3. Tap the pencil icon at the bottom. Edit the information. First and last names are required. Save the changes by tapping the checkmark at the bottom.

Customize the screen name

Screen name is a name that is visible only in your account. All other people cannot see your screen name and can find you only by your profile name.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap your name:

  3. Enter the screen name and tap UPDATE:

Check the application version

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to Help -> App info.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to Help -> VNC service desk.

Access User Manual

Access "Terms of use"

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to Help -> Legal notice -> Terms of use.

Access "Data Privacy Policy"

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to Help -> Legal notice -> Data Privacy.

Go to other VNC products

You can go to another VNC product from VNCtalk if you have the subscription for the product. It means that you do not need to open the product URL in a browser and enter your credentials to login.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Talk. You should see the following, for example:

Log out

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Logout at the bottom.

  3. Confirm that you want to log out, tap LOG OUT in the modal window:

Global settings

Customize the language

It is possible to set 3 languages: English, German, and French.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> General.

  3. Select required language from Language drop-down menu:

  4. Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Enable/disable "Add date stamp along with time stamp" option

If you enable "Add date stamp along with time stamp" option, you will be able to add a date to time stamp on messages. Thus, a message should look as follows, for example:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> General.

  3. Tick Add date stamp along with time stamp checkbox:

  4. Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Enable/disable the status of delivered message(s)

The status of delivered messages allows you to see if your message has been delivered or not. Visually it looks like this:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> General.

  3. Tick Enable receipts checkbox:

  4. Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Enable/disable "Inform about typing" option

If you enable "Inform about typing" option, other users will be able to see if you are typing a message at the moment.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> General.

  3. Tick Inform about typing checkbox:

  4. Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Enable/disable "Publish last activity" option

If you enable "Publish last activity" option, other users will be able to see when you were online last time.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> General.

  3. Tick Publish last activity checkbox:

  4. Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Notification and sound settings

Customize the incoming call ringtone

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> Sound:

  3. Select required ringtone from Ringtone drop-down menu:

  4. Tap the checkmark at the bottom.

Customize the email notifications

You can receive email notifications to alert you about new message(s). The email notifications suggest 2 setting variants:

  • Email Notification - allows to select the time period for the notifications;
  • Email Notifications repeats - allows to select the notifications repeats.

  • Tap the hamburger menu:

  • Navigate to General settings -> Notifications:

  • Select required option from Email Notification and Email Notifications repeats drop-down menus:

  • Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Customize chats notifications

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> Notifications.

  3. Select required option from Notifications drop-down menu:

    • No notifications - if you do not want to receive any chat notifications;
    • Without chat text - if you want to receive chat notifications but without a chat text;
    • With chat text - if you want to receive chat notifications with a chat text.
  4. Tap the checkmark at the bottom.

Enable/disable the global mute

If you enable the global mute, you will mute all notifications within the application. There are 2 ways to enable/disable the global mute:

  • using General settings -> Notifications option;
  • using the microphone icon.

Way 1 - using "General settings -> Notifications" option:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> Notifications.

  3. Tick Global mute checkbox:

  4. Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Way 2 - using the microphone icon:

Security and privacy settings

Delete an OMEMO device

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> Security.

  3. Tick required checkbox next to the device, which you want to remove.
  4. Tap the checkmark at the bottom.

Features settings

Enable/disable Rich Text Format

If you enable Rich Text Format, you will have the toolbar with icons for editing and formatting a text. With Rich Text Format , you can include images, links, audio and video as well as text.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> Features.

  3. To enable, tick Enable RTF editor checkbox. To disable, remove the tick from Enable RTF editor checkbox:

  4. Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Enable/disable the keyboard

You can enable the keyboard, so when you want to type a message, the keyboard appears immediately. It means that you do not need to tap the message field firstly for the keyboard to appear.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> Features.

  3. To enable, tick Enable keyboard on mobile checkbox. To disable, remove the tick from Enable keyboard on mobile checkbox:

  4. Tap the checkmark button at the bottom.

Appearance settings

Customize the theme

There are 3 themes in the application: "Purple Theme", "Yellow Theme", "VNCtalk".

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Navigate to General settings -> Appearance.

  3. Select a theme from the drop-down menu and tap the checkmark at the bottom.

Chats/group chats

All operations, described in this section, are available if "Talk" tab is selected:

Start a chat

There are 2 ways to start a chat:

  • using the plus icon;
  • using Chat button next to required user.

Way 1 - using the plus icon:

  1. Tap the plus icon at the bottom.
  2. Tap Start Chat:

  3. Search for required user and tap him/her.

Way 2 - using "Chat" button next to required user:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users.

  3. Tap ALL tab:

  4. Search for required user. Tap and hold on the user, then tap Chat:

Check a user's profile information

There are 2 ways to check a user's profile information:

  • using the profile avatar icon in a chat;
  • using User's profile button.

Way 1 - using the profile avatar icon in the chat:

  1. tap required chat and tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Profile:

Way 2 - using "User's profile" button:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users and tap ALL:

  3. Search for required user. Tap and hold on the user, then tap User's profile:

Start a group chat

  1. Tap the plus icon at the bottom.
  2. Tap Start group chat:

  3. If you want to add an internal user (member of your organization), use the search field to search for required user. Then tap him/her and you should see the following:

    If you want to add an external user (member of another organization) - enter his/her email address to the field and tap Go:

  4. Tap the arrow icon at the bottom.

  5. Enter a group chat name to the filed:

  6. To upload the group chat avatar, tap the avatar icon:

  7. To protect your communication - enable E2E Encryption. It means that E2E Encryption ensures only you and a person, you're communicating with, can read or listen to what is sent, and nobody in between.

  8. To make a group chat internal (it will be only for internal users) enable Internal in Privacy section.
  9. Tap the checkmark at the bottom. You should see the created group chat in chats list, for example:

    Also all the users of the group chat should see it in chats list too.

Change a group chat avatar

  1. In a group chat, tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Chat info:

  3. Tap the pencil icon:

  4. Tap the group chat icon:

  5. Tap Select An Image and select required picture/photo.

  6. Tap Use:

  7. Tap the checkmark button at the top right. After you change the avatar, you should see the corresponding notification in the group chat, for example:

Leave a group chat (!)

  1. In a group chat, tap the chat avatar icon:

  2. Tap Leave conversation:

    If you are the owner of the group chat, you should select a new owner - just tap required user:

    If you are a participant - just confirm that you want to leave the conversation.

Rename a group chat

  1. In a group chat, tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Chat info:

  3. Tap the pencil icon:

  4. Edit Group chat name field and tap the checkmark at the top right.

Search in a chat/group chat

There are 2 ways to search in a chat/group chat:

  • using the search field;
  • using the magnifier icon.

Way 1 - using the search field:

  1. Tap the magnifier icon:

  2. Enter required request to the search field:

    The found results are highlighted in blue:

Way 2 - using the magnifier icon:

  1. In a group chat, tap the magnifier icon:

  2. Enter required request to the field tap Go on the keyboard.

Access images/documents/voice messages/videos/meetings in a chat/group chat

All sent images/documents/voice messages/videos/meetings are stored in "Media" folder.

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Media:

    Here you can find all sent image(s)/document(s)/audio(s)/video(s) - just select required tab: All, Images, Voice Messages, Videos, Docs, and Meetings.

Disable/enable the message notification in a chat/group chat

If you do not want to receive a notification when somebody sends you a message in a particular chat/group chat, you can disable the message notification for this chat/group chat. You can enable the message notification any time you want.

To disable the message notification:

  1. Tap the bell icon in a chat/group chat:

  2. Tap Mute Notifications:

    You should see the following icon:

    To enable the message notification, tap the bell icon and tap Mute Notifications again.

Disable/enable the sound notification in a chat/group chat

To disable the sound notification:

  1. Tap the bell icon in a chat/group chat:

  2. Tap Mute Sound:

    You should see the following icon:

    To enable the sound notification, tap the bell icon and tap Mute Sound again.

Disable/enable all notifications in a chat/group chat

You can disable all notifications (message notification, sound notification, incoming calls) for a particular chat/group chat.

To disable all notifications:

  1. Tap the bell icon in a chat/group chat:

  2. Tap Mute Everything:

    You should see the following icon:

    To enable all notifications, tap the bell icon and tap Mute Everything again.

Mute/unmute incoming calls in a chat/group chat

To mute incoming calls:

  1. Tap the bell icon in a chat/group chat:

  2. Tap Mute Incoming Calls:

    You should see the following icon:

    To unmute incoming calls, tap the bell icon and tap both Mute Incoming Calls and Mute Sound:

Enable E2E encryption in a chat/group chat

Only the Moderator can enable E2E encryption in a chat/group chat.

There are 2 ways to enable E2E encryption in a chat/group chat:

  • using Enable E2E Encryption option;
  • using the lock icon in a chat/group chat.

Way 1 - using "Enable E2E Encryption" option:

  1. Tap and hold on required chat/group chat.
  2. Tap Enable E2E Encryption:

    If you open this chat/group chat, you should see that there is a corresponding message, for example:

    And there is the icon of a red lock:

    Also you should see the lock icon on the chat/group chat avatar icon:

Way 2 - using the lock icon in a chat/group chat:

Open required chat/group chat and tap the lock icon at the bottom:

Transfer secure chats

After you login to VNCtalk, your device is registered in the system and assigned an ID. The ID looks as follows, for example: 10161 Mobile Android 2021-02-24. Where:

  • 10161 - is a device ID;
  • Mobile - is a hardware type;
  • Android - is an operating system of a hardware type;
  • 2021-02-24 - is a login date from a device.

You can check the devices ID in your VNCtalk account. For this tap the hamburger menu and navigate to General settings -> Security.

Imagine that you enable E2E encryption for a group chat in VNCtalk App. Let's call the group chat "Testing" in this imaginary situation. Then you login to VNCtalk Web Client for the first time. When you open "Testing" group chat, you should see that you cannot read the previous messages because they are encrypted:

Can't decrypt the message - not intended for current device

To read the previous messages, you should transfer them from VNCtalk App into VNCtalk Web Client. For this follow the steps below:

  1. Login to VNCtalk on both devices: a device, from which you want to transfer encrypted messages, and a device, to which you want to transfer them.
  2. In VNCtalk on a device, from which you want to transfer messages, tap the hamburger menu:

  3. Navigate to General settings -> Security.

  4. Tap Select chats:

  5. Tap a chat, from which you want to transfer encrypted messages, and tap Start at the bottom. You should see the following notification:

    Started discovering nearby devices

  6. Get back to VNCtalk on a device, to which you want to transfer encrypted messages. You should see the following window there:

    Click Accept. You should see the following notification:

    The chats are transferred successfully

    After the transfer is over, you will be able to read the messages, which were encrypted.

Disable E2E encryption in a chat/group chat

Only the Moderator can enable E2E encryption in a chat/group chat.

There are 2 ways to enable E2E encryption in a chat/group chat:

  • using Disable E2E Encryption option;
  • using the lock icon in a chat/group chat.

Way 1 - using "Disable E2E Encryption" option:

  1. Tap and hold on required chat/group chat.
  2. Tap Disable E2E encryption:

    You should see a corresponding message in a chat/group chat, for example:

Way 2 - using the lock icon in a chat/group chat:

In a chat/group chat, tap the lock icon at the bottom:

Record a voice message in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap the microphone icon:

    You should see that the recording has started.

  2. To send the voice message, tap the checkmark button. To stop recording the voice message, tap the cross button:

Send a file/picture/photo to a chat/group chat

If you need to send a file/picture/photo:

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap the clip icon:

  2. Select required file/picture/photo.

If you need to take a photo and then send it:

  1. Tap the camera icon:

  2. Take a photo and tap OK.

Create a VNCpad in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap the VNCpad icon:

  2. Tap Create new pad or the plus icon at the top right:

  3. Enter the document name and tap CREATE:

    After you create a VNCpad, the following icon will appear in a chat/group chat, so all participants will be aware of a VNCpad creation:

Rename a VNCpad in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap the VNCpad icon:

  2. Tap required VNCpad. Then tap the kebab menu and tap Rename:

  3. Enter required name and tap UPDATE:

Delete a VNCpad in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap the VNCpad icon:

  2. Tap required VNCpad. Then tap the kebab menu and tap Delete:

Duplicate a VNCpad

This feature is under development.

Delete a message in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap and hold on a message, which you want to delete. You should see the kebab menu at the top.
  2. Tap the kebab menu and tap Delete message:

Mark/unmark a message as favorite in a chat/group chat

To mark a message as favorite:

In a chat/group chat, tap the star icon on a message:

You should see the following:

To unmark a message as favorite, tap the star icon on a message again.

Block a user in a chat

There are 2 ways to block a user:

  • using Block user option in a chat;
  • using Block user option without opening a chat.

After you block a user, you should see the following icon on the blocked user's avatar:

All blocked users are added to "Blocked" list. To access the list, tap the hamburger menu:

Then tap Users, scroll the tabs left, and tap BLOCKED tab:

Way 1 using "Block user" option in a chat:

  1. Open required chat and tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Block user:

    You should see the following notification:

Way 2 - using "Block user" option without opening a chat:

  1. Tap and hold on a chat with a user, whom you want to block.
  2. Tap Block user:

Unblock a user in a chat

There are 3 ways to unblock a user:

  • using Unblock user option without opening a chat;
  • using "Blocked" list;
  • using the lock button in a chat.

Way 1 - using "Unblock user" option without opening a chat:

  1. Tap and hold on a chat with a blocked user.
  2. Tap Unblock user:

    You should see the following notification:

Way 2 - using "Blocked" list:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users, scroll the tabs left, and tap BLOCKED tab:

  3. Tap the lock button next to required user:

    You should see the following notification:

Way 3 - using the lock button in a chat:

Open a chat with a blocked user and tap the lock button at the bottom. You should see the following notification:

Archive a chat/group chat

  1. Tap and hold on a chat/group chat, which you want to archive.
  2. Tap Archive:

    All archived chats/group chats are stored in "Archive" list. To access the list, tap the hamburger menu:

    Then tap Archive. You can unzip or delete archived chats/group chats from "Archive" list anytime.

Unzip an archived chat/group chat

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Archive. Then tap the following button next to required chat/group chat archive:

Delete an archived chat/group chat

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Archive. Then tap the trash button next to required chat/group chat archive:

  3. Confirm that you want to delete the archived chat/group chat - tap Delete in the modal window.

Reply to a message in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap and hold on a message, which you want to reply.
  2. Tap the arrow icon:

Quick reply to a message

After you receive a message, you should see it on the main screen of your smartphone. You can reply to the message without opening the application. For this just tap Reply:

Mention all users in a group chat

To mention all users in a group chat, just enter @all to the message field and tap Go.

Copy a message in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap and hold on a message, which you want to copy.
  2. Tap the following icon:

Forward a message in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap and hold on a message, which you want to forward.
  2. Tap the arrow icon:

  3. Select required user or use the search field for searching.

Use Rich Text Format in a chat/group chat

  1. Ensure that Rich Text Format is enabled. Follow the steps from "Enable/disable Rich Text Format" instruction.
  2. In a chat/group chat, tap Rich Text Format icon:

    You should see the following window where you can type a message using Rich Text Format:

    Also Rich Text Format supports "@mention" option:

Add a user to "Favorite" list

Users, marked as "favorite", are added to "Favorite" list. To access the list, tap the hamburger menu:

Then tap Users and tap FAVORITES tab:

There are 2 ways to add a user to "Favorite" list:

  • using Add To Favorites option;
  • using ALL tab.

Way 1 - using "Add To Favorites" option:

  1. Tap and hold on a chat with a user, whom you want to add to "Favorite" list.
  2. Tap Add To Favorites:

Way 2 - using "ALL" tab:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users and tap ALL tab:

  3. Find required user, then tap and hold on him/her.

  4. Tap Add to Favorites:

Remove a user from "Favorite" list

There are 2 ways to remove a user from "Favorite" list:

  • using Remove From Favorites option;
  • using FAVORITE tab.

Way 1 - using "Remove From Favorites" option:

  1. Tap and hold on a chat with a user, whom you want to remove from "Favorite" list.
  2. Tap Remove From Favorites:

Way 2 - using "FAVORITE" tab:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users and tap FAVORITE tab:

  3. Tap the star button next to required user:

Pin/Unpin a chat

Some chats deserve to be prioritized and viewed at a glance.

The pin chat feature allows you to pin specific chats to the top of your chats list so you can quickly find them. You can select up to 5 chats to pin at once.

Pin a chat

  1. Select the chat you want to pin.
  2. Tap and hold the chat you want to pin, then tap Pin chat.

Unpin a chat

  1. Select the pinned chat.
  2. Tap and hold the chat you want to pin, then tap Unpin chat.

Send a message by mail

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap and hold on a message, which you want to send by email.
  2. Tap the kebab menu and tap Email to a Friend:

  3. Enter an email address to the field and tap Send button at the bottom.

Extend the field for typing a message in a chat/group chat

Just tap the following icon:

Delete a chat/group chat

  1. Tap and hold on a chat/group chat, which you want to delete.
  2. Tap Remove From Recent:

  3. Confirm that you want to delete the chat - tap Delete in the modal window.

Access the list of all the messages where you are mentioned

You can check all the messages, where you are mentioned, in "Mention list". Tap @ tab:

The last message, in which you are mentioned, is in the 1st place in the list.

Access a chat/group chat information

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Settings:

Add a user to a chat (!)

  1. Open required chat. Then tap a user's avatar and tap Participants:

    Alternatively, you can tap the participants icon:

  2. Enter a chat name to Title Of Conversation (*) field.

  3. Enter a user's name to Enter contact's name field and tap the user.
  4. To save the changes, tap the checkmark in the upper right corner.

Add a user to a group chat

  1. In a group chat, tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Settings:

  3. Tap the pencil icon at the top:

  4. Tap Edit participants:

  5. Select required role for the user: Moderator, Participant, Audience.

  6. If you want to add an internal user (member of your organization), search for required user and then tap him/her. If you want to add an external user (member of another organization, not yours) - enter his/her email address to the field and tap Go.
  7. Tap Select at the bottom.
  8. Tap the checkmark at the top.

Delete a user from a group chat

Only the Moderator can delete a user from group chats.

There are 2 ways to delete a user from a group chat:

  • using Settings option;
  • using the participants icon.

Way 1 - using "Settings" option:

  1. In a group chat, tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Settings:

  3. Tap the pencil icon at the top:

  4. Tap Edit participants:

  1. Tap the cross button on required user:

  2. Tap the checkmark at the top:

Way 2 - using the participants icon:

  1. In a group chat, tap the participants icon:

  2. Tap the cross button on required user:

  3. Tap the checkmark at the bottom.

Send a location in a chat/group chat

  1. In a chat/group chat, tap the geolocation icon:

  2. If it is required, allow VNCtalk to access the device location.

  3. Select a location and tap the checkmark at the bottom.

Audio/video calls

Start an audio call

There are 5 ways to start an audio call with a user:

  • using the handset icon in a chat;
  • using the handset icon in a group chat;
  • using Voice call option for a chat;
  • using Voice call option for a group chat;
  • using ALL tab.

Way 1 - using the handset icon in a chat:

In a chat, tap the handset icon:

Way 2 - using the handset icon in a group chat:

  1. In a group chat, tap the handset icon:

  2. If you want to start an audio call with all users of the group chat, just tap the checkmark in the upper right corner:

    If you want to start an audio call with a particular user, tap Selected only tab:

    Then tap required participant(s) and tap the checkmark in the upper right corner.

Way 3 - using "Voice call" option for a chat:

Tap and hold on required chat. Then tap Voice call:

Way 4 - using "Voice call" option for a group chat:

  1. Tap and hold on required group chat. Then tap Voice call:

  2. If you want to start an audio call with all users of the group chat, just tap the checkmark in the upper right corner:

    If you want to start an audio call with a particular user, tap Selected only tab:

    Then tap required participant(s) and tap the checkmark in the upper right corner.

Way 5 - using "ALL" tab:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users. Then tap ALL:

  3. Search for required user in the list or use the search field to find the user.

  4. Tap and hold on the user, then tap Voice call:

Accept/decline an audio call

When somebody calls you, you should see the following:

To accept an audio call, tap the handset in a green circle. To decline an audio call, tap the handset in a red circle. If you miss an audio call, you should see the following notification in a chat/group chat:

Start a video call

There are 5 ways to start a video call with a user:

  • using the handset icon in a chat;
  • using the handset icon in a group chat;
  • using Video call option for a chat;
  • using Video call option for a group chat;
  • using ALL tab.

Way 1 - using the handset icon in a chat:

  1. In a chat, tap the kebab menu:

  2. Tap Video call:

Way 2 - using the handset icon in a group chat:

  1. In a group chat, tap the kebab menu:

  2. If you want to start the video call with all the participants, just tap the checkmark in the upper right corner:

    If you want to start the video call with the selected participant, tap Selected only tab:

    Then tap required participant(s) and tap the checkmark in the upper right corner.

Way 3 - using "Video call" option for a chat:

Tap and hold on required chat. Then tap Video call:

Way 4 - using "Video call" option for a group chat:

  1. Tap and hold on a group chat. Then tap Video call:

  2. If you want to start the video call with all the participants, just tap the checkmark in the upper right corner:

    If you want to start the video call with the selected participant, tap Selected only tab:

    Then tap required participant(s) and tap the checkmark in the upper right corner.

Way 5 - using "ALL" tab:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users. Then tap ALL:

  3. Select required user from the list or use the search field to find the user.

  4. Tap and hold on the user, then tap Video call:

Accept/decline a video call

When somebody calls you, you should see the following:

To accept a video call, tap Accept. To decline the video call, tap Decline. If you miss an audio call, you should see the following notification in a chat/group chat:

Record a video/audio call

To record a video/audio call, follow the instructions from "Record a video meeting" subsection.

Rejoin an active audio/video call

Broadcasts

VNCtalk Broadcast is a fast way to inform individual participants or defined groups and recipient lists about events of any kind. You can just write a broadcast message and everyone in the selected group will be informed immediately. If someone wants to answer to your broadcast or has a question, a 1:1 chat with the creator of the broadcast will automatically be created.

All operations, described in this section, are available if "Broadcast" tab is selected:

Create a broadcast

It is possible to create a broadcast with minimum 2 users. Also you can add a group chat participants to a broadcast.

  1. Tap the plus icon at the bottom and tap Broadcast:

  2. Enter a broadcast name to Broadcast Title field. Search for required participants using the search field or select required group chat.

  3. Tap the following button at the bottom:

    You can check the created broadcast in Broadcast tab:

Delete a broadcast

  1. Tap and hold on a broadcast, which you want to delete.
  2. Tap Delete conversation:

  3. Confirm that you want to delete the broadcast - tap Delete in the modal window.

Disable/enable the message notification in a broadcast

The instruction to disable/enable the message notification in a broadcast is the same as for a chat/group chat. So, refer to "Disable/enable the message notification in a chat/group chat" instruction, but perform the steps with required broadcast.

Disable/enable the sound notification in a broadcast

The instruction to disable/enable the sound notification in a broadcast is the same as for a chat/group chat. So, refer to "Disable/enable the sound notification in a chat/group chat" instruction, but perform the steps with required broadcast.

Disable/enable all notifications in a broadcast

The instruction to disable/enable all notifications in a broadcast is the same as for a chat/group chat. So, refer to "Disable/enable all notifications in a chat/group chat" instruction, but perform the steps with required broadcast.

Mute/unmute incoming calls in a broadcast

Send a file/picture/photo to a broadcast

Send a location to a broadcast

Access images/documents/voice messages/videos/meetings in a broadcast

The instruction to access image(s)/document(s)/audio(s)/video(s) in a broadcast is the same as for a chat/group chat. So, refer to "Access images/documents/voice messages/videos/meetings in a chat/group chat" instruction, but perform the steps with required broadcast.

Send a broadcast news by email

The instruction to send a broadcast news by email is the same as for a chat/group chat. So, refer to "Send a message by mail" instruction, but perform the steps with required broadcast.

Video meetings

There are 3 possible roles in a video meeting:

  • Moderator can: share the screen, create a whiteboard, start a broadcast, send messages to participants, change participants role, remove participants from VNCmeet, add participants with a particular role, remove participants from a group, mute/unmute participants;
  • Participant can: raise a hand, add participants without a role, send a message to participants, mute/unmute participants for himself/herself, share the screen;
  • Audience can: send a message to participants, mute/unmute participants for himself/herself, and add participants without a role.

All operations, described in this section, are available during a video meeting.

Start a video meeting

You can start a video meeting not only with internal users, who are the members of your organization, but also with external users, who do not belong to your organization.

If a user does not answer a call within 1 minute, the call will end automatically and you will receive the notification that a user does not answer. If you miss a video meeting, you should see the following notification in a chat/group chat:

  1. Tap the plus icon at the bottom and tap Start video meeting:

  2. Enter a video conference name instead of VNCmeet:

  3. To schedule the video meeting, set a date and time manually in Starts field or tap the calendar icon to select the date:

    Select a date and time, and tap the checkmark at the bottom.

  4. Select required role for participants from the drop-down menu (Moderator or Participant):

  5. To start the video meeting with an internal user, search for required user using the search field and tap him/her. To start the video meeting with an external user, enter the user's email address to Search field and tap the arrow next to the email address:

    You should see the added user in the list, for example:

  6. To save the changes, tap the checkmark in the upper right corner. The scheduled video meeting should be visible in the chats list. The external user should receive the following email, for example:

    The external user can join the video meeting after he/she tap Join the Meeting button in the email.

End a video meeting

To end a video meeting, just tap the following button:

Join a video meeting

Both internal (users, who belong to your organization) and external users (users, who do not belong to your organization) can join a video meeting in VNCtalk.

Internal users can join a video meeting by tapping the handset in a green circle:

External users can join a video meeting by tapping Join the Meeting button, which he/she can find in the invitation email:

Record a video meeting

Only the Moderator can record a video meeting.

To record a video meeting, tap REC button:

You should see that the recording is in progress:

To stop recording, tap the button shown on the screenshot:

You should see the following notification:

A recorded video meeting is saved in "Meetings" folder. To access the folder, open required chat/group chat. Then tap the kebab menu:

Tap Media:

Finally, swipe left and tap Meetings tab:

Rejoin an active video meeting

You can rejoin an active video meeting by tapping Join button:

Contact lists

"Contact list" is an option for each user to create lists according to individual requirements, for example for marketing purposes.

For example, you can create "Family" list and add all your family members there.

Create a contact list

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users and tap the kebab menu:

  3. Enter a list name to the field and tap the participants icon at the bottom.

  4. Select required users or use the magnifier icon to find them.
  5. Tap the checkmark at the bottom.
  6. To save the changes, tap the checkmark at the bottom. To check the created list, tap the hamburger menu:

    Then tap Users and tap ALL tab:

    Scroll down and you should see the created list, for example:

Rename a contact list

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users and tap ALL tab:

  3. Find required list. Tap the kebab menu:

  4. Tap Rename list:

  5. Rename the list and tap the checkmark at the bottom.

Delete a contact list

It is not possible to restore deleted lists.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users and tap ALL tab:

  3. Find required list. Tap the kebab menu:

  4. Tap Delete list:

  5. Confirm that you want to delete the list - tap Delete in the modal window.

Add a user to a contact list

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users and tap ALL tab:

  3. Find required list. Tap the kebab menu:

  4. Tap Add user to list:

  5. Tap the pencil icon and add required user or use the search field for searching.

  6. Tap the checkmark at the bottom.
  7. Save the list by tapping the checkmark at the bottom.

Remove a user from a contact list

  1. Tap the hamburger menu:

  2. Tap Users and tap ALL tab:

  3. Find required list. Tap the kebab menu:

  4. Tap Add user to list:

  5. Tap the pencil icon:

  6. Tap the cross button on a user:

  7. Tap the checkmark at the bottom.

  8. Tap the checkmark at the bottom again.

"Advanced Search" option allows to search among broadcasts, chats, contacts, channels, files, using different options and filters.

  1. To use "Advanced Search" option, tap the magnifier icon:

  2. Enter a request to the field and tap Go on the keyboard.

  3. To apply filters, tap the filter icon:

    You should see the following options:

    • Search in Apps - allows to select required application for searching;

    • Time Range - allows to set the time range for searching;

    • Select Content Type - allows to set the search for a request among all files or selected ones;

    • Users - allows to set the search for a request among all users or selected ones;

    • Tags - the option is under development;

    • Include attachments - allows to set the search through file names and content;

    • Searching through starred messages - allows to enable or disable the searching in starred messages.

    • Allow boolean operators - allows to enable or disable boolean operators, such as AND, OR, NOT.
