VNCtalk Mobile App User Manual¶
The VNCtalk Enterprise Edition provides, in addition to the VNCtalk webclient application, a smartphone app as mobile client as well. The app is available on Android and iOS.
While most functions of webclient and mobile app are similiar, this user manual focuses on the app-specific user interface and features.
VNCTalk mobile app functions¶
VNCtalk provides the following features to its users:¶
- Chat: in dialogue or as a group with multiple users.
- Video calls: in dialogue or as a group with multiple participants.
- Audion calls: in dialogue or as a group with multiple participants.
- File Transfer: exchange files with other users.
- Recent conversations: Recent conversations are automatically added in chronologically decending order to the Recent conversations list.
- Archive Chats: The chat history of recent conversations can be archived directly from the recent list.
On Android OS, you can install the VNCtalk app from the Google Play Store or via F-Droid.
You can use the VNCtalk app with an existing VNCtalk account or register a test account on the VNC demo server.
Android OS (Google Play Store)¶
You can install the VNCtalk app from the Google Play Store using this link, or directly on your Android device by tapping the

Enter vnctalk in the Playstore's search bar and
tapp on the app, as shown in the search results.

|In the next screen, tapp on INSTALL, to install the
|Once the installation has been completed, the
INSTALL icon turns into OPEN.
Now tapp on OPEN, in order to start the VNCtalk
app on your Android device.
Android OS (F-Droid)¶
To install the VNCtalk app from F-Droid:
Install the F-Droid application manager, which you can download as apk-file from here.
Note: In order to install the F-Droid app store application, you need to allow the installation of applications from unknown sources on your mobile device, which you can activate by navigating to Settings --> Security and activate the option Unknown Sources. Remember to revoke this permission again, once the installation has been finished.
Configure the VNC F-Droid repository:
- Open the just installed F-Droid app and navigate to Settings --> Repositories
- Tap the + icon in the top-right corner.
- In the opening dialogue, enter for Repository address: https://fdroid.vnc.biz/repo and tap ADD to add the new repository.
- Now search for VNCtalk and install the app from the search results, which you can identify by this
On your first start of the mobile app, you have to enter the Server URL:
https://<your-talk-server-URL> and your credentials. When finished, tap the Login button to login.
On the next start of the app you are automatically logged in, so you only have to perform this once.
In order to install the VNCtalk app on an iOS device,
- navigate to our VNCtalk app in the App-Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vnctalk/id1400937435
and install it from there,
- or open the App-Store on your iOS device by tapping the
App Store icon:

|(1) In the App Store enter vnctalk in the search bar,
to get the VNCtalk iOS App displayed for installation.
(2) Tapp the install icon to install the app.
|(3) Once the installation has been completed, the
download/ install icon turns into OPEN.
Now tapp on OPEN, in order to start the VNCtalk app
on your iOS device.
Create a test account on the VNC-server¶
When installing the app from the Google Play Store, you have the option to apply for a test account registered on a VNCtalk test-server.
In the Login Screen, tapp on
CREATE NEW ACCOUNT (1)
in order to register a test account on the VNCtalk
This will open the registration form in your web browser:

|Fill up the Registration Form ...||... and tapp on REGISTER||In case all fields are filled up
properly, an E-Mail containing the
activation link is sent to the E-Mail address you entered in the registration form.
|Open the link sent to you in the
Account activation E-Mail in your
|Tapp on ACCEPT if you agree and
activate your test-account, or tapp
DECLINE otherwise, which will cancel the activation process.
|Once the activation process has
been completed successfully, you will see this screen.
Now you can login to the VNCtalk app or continue with the VNCtalk web-client in your browser using your test-account credentials.
Reset your test-account's password¶
In case you lost your passwort, you can reset your password from the login screen.
In the Login Screen, tapp on
Forgot Password? (1)
in order to initiate the procedure to set an new
password for your VNCtalk account.
This will open your mobile's web browser:

|Enter the eMail Address you used
when registering your account and
tapp the SUBMIT button
|In case the E-Mail address you
entered was valid, the input field
is emptied and you will be notified
that instructions have been sent to
you in an E-Mail.
|Clicking the reset password link,
provided you in that E-Mail, will
open another web-wbroser
window, contianing an input form
to enter your new password.
Once done, tapp on SAVE to set the new password.
Note: Do not use the login screen in the web-browser, where you are taken to after tapping on SAVE, to login to your account. Close the browser window now and login to the VNCtalk app with your new password.
To use the VNCtalk app, you need an already registered account.
|When starting the VNCtalk app the
first time on your smartphone, you are asked one-time to enter a SERVER URL
Enter the server-URL of the VNCtalk server you want to connect to and tap on Login
In case you do not know your VNCtalk-Server-URL, please contact your administrator.
|Afterwards you are asked to enter
your login credentials and to tap the LOGIN button to complete the login process.
On the next start of the VNCtalk app, you are automatically logged in and not prompted again until
you logout of the app.
|Depending on the configuration
of your VNCtalk server, you can create
a new account directly from here by tapping on
CREATE NEW ACCOUNT
If this feature is not available, you
will get instantly feedback by a corresponding pop-up message.
Password reset (for none Testserver Accounts)¶
In case you forgot or want to reset your password, please contact your VNCtalk administrator.
Provide necessary access rights¶
In order to make sure, that you can use VNCtalk to the full extend, it is required to provide all necessary access rights to the VNCtalk app on your smartphone.
Once you logged in for the first time, you are prompted to provide access to files and to allow the app the recording of audio and video:

Change your profile picture¶

Change your profile picture by following these steps:
- Tap on Upload to open the file browser dialogue.
- Select the desired new image file from your smartphone.
- Adjust in the preview area, which part of the selected image should be used as your avatar.
- Tap on the checkmark button in the top right corner to apply your new profile picture and return to the profile menu.
Update your profile information¶

|In the menu EDIT PROFILE you can update your

will appear, once you made your first changes
to the profile information.
When your finished your profile adjustments, leave the profile menu by tapping the back (<) icon in the top-left corner of your screen.
(2) Change your screen name¶
Back in the main menu, you have the option to change your displayed screen name.

|Tap on your current display name directly, below
your avtar picture to change your screen name.
|This will open a pupup text field, where you can
change your displayed screen name.
When you are done, apply your new name by
tapping UPDATE or abord the renaming process
by tapping CANCEL
(3) App Menü¶
|When selecting Apps from the main menu, you
are taken to the app overview screen.
In case the VNCtalk app is currently installed only,
there is only VNCtalk available to choose from,
else in this menu you can switch between the
Tap the VNCtalk icon, to select the VNCtalk app
and return to the main menu.
This main menu item takes you to the contact list management, which is explained in detail in the respective section of this user manual.
Here you can navigate to the Chat-archive
The usage of the Archive function is explained below on the example of the chat-history for user Bob:

|Tapping Archive in the main menu, opens the
archive overview, which is of course empty when
nothing has been archived yet.
|To archive a chat-history, navigate to your recent
conversations list and open the context menu for
the chat with Bob.
You can open the context menu, by tap and hold
(long touch) on the respective chat, in this case Bob.
Now tap on Archive in order to archive your chat

|As a result, your chat-history with Bob is deleted from
the recent conversations list and moved to the Archive.
|To restore an archived chat, tap on the folder icon
with the arrow right of the contact name of the
(6) General settings¶
This menu contains all app- and smartphone specific configuration settings you can adjust. The respective consequences are explained shortly for each config option as subtext.

After you have finished modifying your settings, tap the checkmark icon in the top right corner to apply the new settings.
(7) About the VNCtalk app¶
The menu item About contains additional information on the VNCtalk app.
|From here you can fetch from three menu options:
(1) Information on the current version of VNCtalk
(2) A list of links, e.g. to this user manual and customer
specific information to product help and support.
(3) Access to the VNCtalk HelpDesk.
(4) The VNC Legal information

|This page displays the current version of the app
and a link to the changelog, where you get information
about the latest changes to VNCtalk.
The changlog lists new functions as well as fixed bugs.
|This menu contains links to this user manual, to the
VNCtalk FAQ and links to additional help pages
The respective links listed here, are configurable
according to customer requirements.
|(3) Contact support||(4) Legal Notice|
|From here you can access the VNC-Support Portal,
where you can raise support requests as tickets.
Note: In order to access it, you need an active
account in the VNCtalk Support Portal or, in case
you applied for a test-account on the VNC-server,
login with your test-account's credentials.
|Tapping the links provided on this page, will open VNC's
- Data privacy information
in your mobile's web-browser.
The last item in the main menu allows you to logout the VNCtalk App as client from your VNCtalk account.
After tapping Logout, you are prompted with a pop-up question if you really want to proceed and logout of VNCtalk or cancel the action. If you logout, you are taken to the Login screen.
While you are logged out of the VNCtalk app, you will not receive VNCtalk notifications on your smartphone anymore.
You can access the contact management via main menu item Users.
|The contact management provides these options:
(1) Filter the contact lists for:
- ONLINE: displays list contacts which are currently
online. This tab is selected by default.
- ALL: displays all list contacts, independent of their
- BLOCKED: Here are users listed, which you have
chosen to block.
-FAVORITE: This tab lists all contacts, which you
appointed as favorites.
(2) Search: Filter the display of list contacts by
matching search critery
(3) Create a new list
(4) Back to the conversation list(recent list).
Create a list¶
By tapping the Create list icon in the top-right corner of the contact list overview, you can create a new contact list/ contact group and add contacts to it as illustrated below:

|All Contacts: Here you will find all of your contacts, independent of their online status.
Online Contacts: Selecting this tab displays all of your contacts, that are currently online.
Blocked Contacts(no image): Here are those contacts listed, which you actively blocked.
The blocking function is described in section Block contacts of this manual.
Favorite Contacts(no image): Contains the subset of users, which you appointed as Favorites.
You may have to swipe to the right in order to select the FAVORITE tab.
Note: The list General contains all users added to the contact list before and can neither be renamed nor deleted.

respective list's name, the list menu (2) opens,
providing these options:
- Create new list
- Add user to list
- Rename list
- Delete list
By selecting the menu item Rename list from the list menu, the list's details are displayed.

To delete a list, select the option Delete list from the list menu.

|- Select the menu item: Delete list||- Confirm the deletion of the
list, by selecting DELETE or cancel the action by tapping CANCEL.
|- In case you confirmed the deletion, the list has been
erased and the list's contacts are only displayed in General now.
Search lists for contacts¶

|Tapping the magnifying glass
icon, opens a text input field, where you can search your contact lists for users.
The resulting contact list displayed, contains only users, which match your search phrase by substring.
To block a contact, tap and hold(long tap) on the contact you wish to block, which will open the context menu.

|Now select the menu item Block User||The contact will be removed from the contact list

|Tap on the rider BLOCKED to list the users you
have currently blocked.
Here you will find the contact bob you have just
blocked. To revoke the blocking, tap on the lock
icon right beside the contact's name.
|This will remove the blocking and a pop-up
message Contact Unblocked will be displayed.
The menu item Add to Favorites in a contact's context menu, adds the respective contact to your favorite list, or revokes the favorite status again for contacts previously appointed as favorites, by respectively selecting the option Remove from Favorites.
The Favorite list is displayed when tapping on the rider named FAVORITE in the contact management menu. A contact that has been appointed as favorite is marked by a yellow star symbol in the contact list.
Leave contact management¶
There are multiple ways, to leave the contact management menu:
- Tap on a contact in a contact list, in order to start a chat.
Select one of these options from the context menu of a contact in your lists:
- Chat (same effect as tapping the contact)
- Voice call
- Video call
which starts the selected interaction.
Navigate via the back (<) button in the top-left corner, back to the main menu.
The recent conversations list¶
As already mentioned at the beginning, right after login/ start of the VNCtalk app, you are taken to the conversation- or recent-list. You also get here, when leaving a chat or chatroom or ending any other user interaction.

It also contains:
- The contact's name and avatar
- The contact's online status:
-- Green ==> online
-- Yellow ==> away
-- Red ==> busy
-- Grey ==> Offline (or invisible)
- A Preview and timestamp of the last chat-interaction.
-The amount of unread messages, sent by the contact.
In the example, there are two unread messages from Bob.
- Chatrooms(group chats) where you have been
invited to, respectively, which you started yourself.
Groupchats are indicated by a group symbol instead
of an avatar icon.
Context menu to a recent list item¶
When performing a long touch (tap and hold) on an item in the recent-list, the respective contact's context menu will open.
Except these two options
- Delete conversation
which are exclusively accessible by this menu only, for all other context menu options, there is at least one alternativ approach available. The detailed description to earch particular option is linked in the options overview.

After selecting this menu item, you are
prompted again, to confirm the deletion
or to cancel the action.
While in the main screen (recent list), tap the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner in order to start a full text search on your whole chat history.

|After tapping the magnifying glass in the
recent conversations list, the VNCtalk headline
is replaced by a search bar, which consists of
these elements (left to right):
- Back (<)
- Search bar to enter your search phrase
- Clear search bar (X)
- Advanced search (sub menu)
|After entering a search phrase and starting the
search by tapping (->) in the keypad, the search
result will be displayed.
Please note: Search phrases starting with "!", exclude the characters following the exclamation mark, which equals to the search request does not include.
Here you can access a set of options to improve your search.

In addition you have these options here to
improve your search method by
- a selection of users,
- special tags
- a set of switches as illustrated in the figure to the left.

|Here you can select, which app-resources should be considered in the search.||Here you can either define a time range yourself or selected one of four predefined time frames for the search.||You also have the option, to restrict the search results to certain file-/ content types.|
You can either start a chat in the contact list by tapping the respective list contact or from the recent conversations list as illustrated below.
In case the dedicated user, to whom you want to chat with is already in your recent conversations list, in the example it would be Bob(1), you can start the chat by tapping on the respective contact. This will open the desired chat-window: Chat with Bob.
In case the desired chat partner is not yet in your recent conversation list, you can search for that contact:

Besides selecting on of you contacts from your recent conversations list, you can also start a groupchat from here.

Now enter here the desired chat partner's name, in the example: Chris.
5: Finally tap on the contact in the search results to start a Chat with Chris.

|Now, depending on the example followed, a Chat with
has been started.
The following functions and opjects are availabe in the Chat-Interface:
- Username of the chat-partner
- Start a call - Tap the phone receiver icon, to start a voice- or video-call out of the chat.
- Chat menu - Tap on the avatar icon, in order to open the chat menu. Here you can adjust individual settings for this chat.
- Send photo - By tapping the camera icon, the camera app of your smartphone will open. If you now take a phote, it will be sent directly to your chat partner(attached to the chat).
- Send location - Tap the GPS-icon, to send your current location to your chat-partner.
- Add participants - Here you can invite additional users to your chat, which will start a new group chat out of your 1ob1 chat.
- Send attachment - This button allows you to send any file type to your chat partner. On tapping the paper-clip icon, your smartphone's file browser will open. Now select the desired file, you want to send to your chat partner.
- Image files now attached are displayed with an inline preview image in the chat window.
- Audio- and video-files are displayed inline with the media control interface of the included media player.
- Text input field - When tapping the text input field, your smartphone's the keyboard app will slide into the lower half of your screen. Now enter your messages.
- Send message - Tap on that icon to send the message(s) just written in the text input field.
- Voice recording - Tapping the microphone icon will start an audio recording using your phone's microphone. In case ther ist text in the text input field, the send message button will be shown instead of this icon. The Voice recording icon is only visible, when the text input field is empty.
- Leave chat - Tap the back button "<" either on your smartphone controls or use the integrated back button in the top-left corner of the screen, to leave the chat an return to the recent conversations list.
- Mute conversation and Disable notifications: - Besides the start a call icon in the chat title you also have two more icons, for configuring audio and text notifications for this contact. Per default, audio and text notifications are enabled. If they are disabled, the respective icon is displayed striked-through in order to visualize that its currently muted/ disabled. To change the current setting, just tap on the respective icon.
Start a call¶
|Tapping the phone receiver icon, unreveales
two options, by which you can start either an
- Audio call
- Video call
out of the chat.
After you tapped the GPS-icon, you are prompted to provide VNCtalk the permission to access your current location. Assuming this permission has been granted, your current GPS location will be detected and, with the help of Google-Maps, visualized:

Pressing the microphone icon in the chat window, starts the audio recording using your phone's microphone.

|Now you can, either Cancel
the recording by tapping the
- red X icon:
or End and send the recording
by tapping the
- green checkmark button.
When chosing the latter,
your recorded voice message
will be displayed in the chat
window after it has been sent successfully.
The Chat menu¶

|To open the chat menu, tap the avatar icon
of your chat partner.
Here you have these options available:
- Add participants
- Block user
which are illustarted in detail in this manual section.
|Tap on Profile to view your chat partner's user profile.
Besides viewing the user's provided contact
information, you can also start a video call, a voice call
or send an invitation to a meeting from here.
Return to the chat by tapping the Chat or the "<" icon.
|The option Search opens an input field for
It filters the chat history for messages which contain
the entered search phrase.
The search phrase will be marked by color in every
|Settings (1on1 chat)||Add participants|
|In Settings you can activate OMEMO end-
to-end encryption for the current chat.
|The Add participants menu item has the same
functionality as the respective Icon in the Chat
window: From here you can, by inviting additional
users, start a group-chat out of this 1on1 chat.
|The menu item Media lists all media content, that
has been ever exchanged in this chat/ chatroom.
Media content is listed in chronologically descending
order. In addition, the media content is categorized in
a folder structure by these file-types:
- Documents (PDF,etc.)
- Audio files
- Video files
(visible by scolling the folder elements to the right)
Mobile Message notifications¶
In case you did not explicitely log out of your VNCtalk mobile app and have notifications enabled in General settings, you will receive VNCtalk notifications for incoming messages on your mobile device:
- from your contacts or group chats, you are subscribed/ invited to and
for that you did not explitely deactivate the notifications individually.

For every new mobile notification, you get a message icon displayed in your phone's

|... you have two options to interact here, besides
dismissing a notification with a swipe.
- (1) Reply on the notified message,
- (2) Mark the message read,
without opening the app.
- (3) Tapping CLEAR ALL will of course dismiss all
notifications including the ones from VNCtalk.

|... providing the action buttons to the next notification
Selecting REPLY ...
|... will open a text input field, allowing you to answer
from here without having to open the app.
After you finished your reply by tapping the Send
button, the notification message will be dismissed as well.
The Chat message window¶
In the message window you can distinguish between sent and received messages by these criteria:
- sent messages - Right aligned with message text on dark background
- received messages - Left aligned with message text on bright background
Depending on the configured theme, the respective color can vary in regards to the message background.
The message window does not only display the message history, it also provides interactive options, accessible via message menu.
To display the available options for a message, mark it by tap and hold (long touch), until the message menu appears.
It is also possible to mark multiple message at once. The available operations then are restricted to those, applicable to whole selection of messages:

Copy & Paste messages¶

|By tapping the Copy icon, the previously
selected messages (in the example: 3), are
copied to clipboard.
Now by performing a touch and hold (long touch) e.g.
to the input field, the PASTE ...
|... dialogue of your smartphone appears, allowing you
to paste the copied text again, e.g. as new message
(1) On tapping the Forward icon, you can select a contact or listed chatroom by browsing your recent conversations list or by searching for the desired recipient(magnifying glass icon) to whom you want to forward the message(s) to.
(2) Tapping on the respective contact/ chatroom (in the example: Bob) listed in the results, will open a chat window to this user and the message(s) you selected forwarding, are sent.
(3) Forwarded messages contain an info heading Forwarded --> followed by the name of the original sender.(in the example: John)

|By tapping the *quote message icon, you can answer
to a selected message directly.
|In the message window, the selected message

Favorites and more options in the message menu¶
In case only one message has been selected in the message window, the message menu provides additional options, accessible in the Kebab menu, appearing as additional menu item.
Tap the Kebab icon in order to unreveal these options.
The menu options:
-Email to a friend
-Add a task (VNCtask)
-Store on cloud (VNCsafe)
are still under development and therefore currently without function.
This manual will be updated, when there's new development in this regard.

|For your own messages. you have the options:
- Delete message
|In case you select a received message, these options
become available in the Kebab menu
- Send a message: just closes this menu
- Voice call: starts a Voice call to the chat partner
- Video call: starts a Video call to the chat partner
|Add a message to Favorites:
To add a selected message to your favorites,
tap on the filled star icon.
A message marked as favorite is indicated by the
star label left of the message's time stamp.
|Remove a message from Favorites:
To revoke the favorite status of a previously
"favorized" message, you need to select the message.
In the message menu an empty start icon is displayed.
Tap on the empty star symbol, to revoke the favorite
status for this message.
In case your last sent message has not yet been answered, meaning: it is still the latest message in the chat's history, then you have the option to detele this message from the chat history:

|Select the last message in the chat history by
long tap, to open the message menu for it.
Now open the Kebab menu on the right and select the
Option Delete message from it.
|You will receive a pop-up notification: Message deleted
and the message will be removed from the chat history.
In addition to 1on1 chats between to users, VNCtalk alos provides conversations with more than two participants in chatrooms or group chats
Start a group chat¶
When you add another participant to an active 1on1 chat, the interface for creating a new group chat opens automatucally.
Alternatively you can also start a new group chat from the recent conversations list and invite the desired participants:

new group chat after tapping the speech bubble icon in the lower right corner of the recent conversations list.
|Like when creating a chat, you
can select the desired contacts directly from the recent conversations list
|or look for contacts via search bar.|
In the next example, we start a group chat with three participants, by first inviting ...

By tapping the (-->) icon , we create a new group chat.

Finally tap on the checkmark icon to create the group chat,...

|Compared to 1on1 chats,
group chats can be recognized by:
(1) the group icon, which
replaces the profile picture(avatar),
(2) the title, which, when not
assigned, is set by a generated string.
(3) The group chat menu does
contain the option Leave
conversation instead of Profile and Block user.
!!! tip "You can only leave a group chat by selecting the chat menu option Leave conversation. If you e.g. leave the group chat using the back ( < ) button to the recent conversations list, you stay a participant of the chatroom.
Group chat settings¶
While the available options in the group chat settings are not different from the 1on1 chat settings for invited participants, the creator, respectively owner of the group chat has additional settings options:
- Rename chatroom: The owner can change the title of a chatroom/ group chat, as illustrated below.
Persistent room: If this option (switch) is activated, the group chat stays alive, even if the last participant has let the chatroom.
When this switch is deactivated, the group chat will be automatically deleted from the server, once the last participant has left the room.
In order to delete an obsolete but permanent group chat, the owner of the room has to enter it again an turn off the switch Persistent room. This will delete the chatroom from the server as soon as it has no members anymore.
Publically searchable: By activating this switch, the owner of the chatroom can make the group chat visible for uninvited users or, by deactivating it, hide the room from public search.

Calls & Conferences¶
VNCtalk provides the facitily to the users to perform voice calls, video calls as well as video conferences.
The telephone functionality can be used as:
- The call starts with deactivated camera.
- The Call starts with activated camera.
as illustrated below:

|An incoming call is indicated by a pop-up
message window INCOMING CALL .. along with
a ringtone.It also displays the caller's name.
You can respond to an incoming call by:
(1) Hanging up
(2) Pick up as video call
(3) Pick up as voice call
|To initiate a call out of a chat, tap on the receiver icon.
In the opening menu, you got the option to either start
- a Voice call
- a Video call
to your chat partner.
The difference between voice- and video-calls is the camara status of the call participants.
In case you start a voice call or pick up a call invitation by selecting the green phone receiver icon, you start the call with disabled camera.
Compared to this, you are starting or joining a call with activated camera, if you start it as video call or respectively join it by selecting the green camera icon when picking up the call.
However, in an active call you always have the option to turn you camera later on or off.

The Call interface options:
- Fullscreen mode: In this mode all control elements are hidden, except the preview videos of the participants. The app switches after a few seconds automatically to this display mode. To end the fullscreen mode, just tap anywhere on your mobile's screen and the controls will reappear.
- Time display: Here you can see how long the call is already running.
Participants: The currently talking participant is indicated by a gauge display in the top right corner of its preview video.
In a voice call, the participant's cameras are deactivated and the video preview window is replaced by pictograms.
Camera: Tap on this icon, in order to (de)activate your camera. When it is disabled, the icon is replaced by a striked-through camera icon.
- Hang up: When you tap this icon, you will leave the call.
- Microphone: Analogue to your camera, you can turn your microphone on or off as you like. When the microphone is disabled, the icon will be replaced by a striked through mic.
- Hide participant list: Tap this button to hide the preview videos of the participants.
Switch camera Today's smartphones include typically more than one camera. By tapping this icon, you can switch between your cameras.
For this function to work properly, you need at least Android OS version 8
Switch to chat: Of course you can continue using the chat during an active call. By tapping the retract icon in the top left corner, you switch te active call/ conference to the background und are taken to the message window:

|After Switching to chat you can switch back to
your call- or conference- screen by tapping on the
|If you leave the chat while having a call or conference
running, you are reminded of it continually while
navigating through the app, by the orange bar on top of
your screen. When tapping on it, you switch back to
your active call or conference.
You have two options to start a conference, meaning a call with more than two participants:
- Start a video- or voice-call out of a group chat.
- Add via chat menu by picking the option Add participants, additional participants to an existing chat with an active call. This will create a new group chat and the new members are invited to the current session, which "upgrades" the call to a conference:

|Tap on a preview video, to switch the respective
participant to the main screen.
If none is selected, the currently loudest
participant will be on the big screen.
|If not all preview videos fit to your screen, you can
scroll through your preview videos by swiping
(left <--> right).

|When your microphone is disabled, it is indicated
by the respective icon.
|When you deactivate your camera, your preview video
will be replaced by a place holder pictogram.
